LANDMARKKarlstor Gate on Stachus Square is one of the three remaining gates from Munich's city walls, which were demolished at the end of the 18th century. The gate, constructed in the 14th century, was part of the city's second fortification layer, along with Sendlinger Tor and Isartor. To the east, Karlstor Gate leads to the bustling shopping strip Neuhauser Straße, while to the west, it opens up to Karlsplatz through a pedestrian gate. The gate also features a pair of faux-Gothic towers connected by a bridge.
